Liminal Space

In grief and trauma studies, liminality describes the disorientation after loss, the period where the old life no longer exists but a new one hasn’t formed.

In spiritual traditions, the liminal is considered sacred, the space where transformation happens precisely because the rules are suspended. In philosophy, it connects to the concept of being “betwixt and between,” neither one thing nor another.

A suspension of normal social structures and identity.
